A 7-day foundation course, then a written exam, shadow classes beside a senior coach, and an observed class before you fly solo. Repeat-and-advance applies to us too.

Our certification tests how you praise, how you handle tears after a loss, and how you protect a struggling child's dignity — before it tests your chess.

Who we're looking for
Great with kids first, great at chess second
If you light up when a child finally gets it, you'll fit right in.
★ FIDE rating required
You genuinely like children ages 5–15
FIDE-rated, with solid practical chess (no title required)
Patient and encouraging
Reliable schedule, good internet, comfort teaching live online
Fluent, warm English
Online teaching experience (preferred)
Non-negotiable:every ChessCubs coach is screened AND background-verified before any classroom contact. If that rigor appeals to you rather than annoys you, you're our kind of coach.
