Success Stories

Real cubs, real games, real progress.

These are our students and their parents, in their own words — unscripted, unpolished, and exactly how it happened. From a first year of lessons to a state tournament scoreboard.

That's Aarya's score at the Washington State Elementary Chess Tournament — a tournament she qualified for with her ChessCubs coaches beside her. Watch her tell it below.

Yemofe & his dad, Newton

Yemofe — from learning the rules to beating his mom, in one year.

At this time last year I didn't know how to play chess properly, and now I can easily beat my mom — whilst before she would easily be able to beat me.
Yemofe
We figured out that he had the interest and potentially the aptitude for chess, but we as his parents did not have the structured experience or processes to teach him the game properly.

Aarya

Aarya — qualified for the Washington State Elementary Chess Tournament; scored 3 wins and 1 draw from 5 games.

With their support, I qualified for the Washington State Elementary Chess Tournament, where I won three and drew one of my five games. I know that I could not have achieved this without their encouragement.

Arjun

Arjun — didn't want to join at first; a year later, more focused — and it carried over into school.

At first, I used to not be interested in chess and I didn't want to join. But then now, since I joined this academy, I started becoming more focused and I even improved in school.

Vedant & his parent

Vedant — over a year of one-on-one coaching that finds the gaps and closes them, while keeping it fun.

It's fun getting that private instruction — dedicated time for strengthening my game and at the same time finding gaps and helping me overcome those.
Vedant
ChessCubs most importantly has helped my son really enjoy playing the game — and that, ultimately, I think is what is important.

Aarna

Aarna — two years at ChessCubs; now winning more games and competing in tournaments.

Since then, I've been winning more chess games and I'm even competing in tournaments.
